Give your Cats a place to Scratch
Are your cats destroying your furniture with those claws? Do not De-claw them - you can train them not to scratch your stuff. I have 6 cats and they all use the scratching posts I have provided to them. Not all scratching posts are ugly either. You would be amazed at how many styles there are and if you are a crafty you can even make your own. My cats prefer the sisal type and also will use the basic cardboard ones too.
You can also start the training with a simple water spray bottle and if you catch them starting to scratch where you do not want them to you give them a squirt - most cats hate that. Now I do have one cat - Fang my Maine Coon who seems to like getting a spray - so this does not work on him. I never hit my cats - it is instinct for them to scratch so do not ever hit a cat - it is just mean.
You need to provide them a place they can scratch that is allowed. You can visit my Squidoo page HERE to see all the great ways to train, all the fun available scratchers and even directions on how you can make your own.

Does your Cat enjoy a good high?
My Catnip preference - or shall I say my cats preference is the Cosmic Catnip - that one seems to be a big hit for them. I also grow my own when the weather is nice and having my own stash that is fresh is very exciting to my furry kids.
My favorite thing to do is take an old unmatched sock and fill it with the Cosmic Catnip and tie the end. The cats go nuts for the sock and you have now got rid of one of those socks that you will never find the mate for.
So deal your Feline Babies some :Meow-ee WoWee
